About No1 Accountants · Est. 2008 · London

An accountancy
built for the
long relationship.

We started No1 because the accountancy most UK business owners receive — once a year, by email, in language they can’t decode — doesn’t help anyone make a decision. We wanted to build the opposite of that.

Accountancy is, in the end, a relationship. With the people behind a business, with the decisions they’re trying to make, with the future they’re trying to build.

Why we exist 01

Most UK business owners we meet have been let down by an accountant at least once. The annual surprise tax bill. The phone that nobody answers in October. The year-end pack that arrives too late to do anything about. We are the firm that decided not to be that firm and built a service shaped around what good actually looks like.

What we believe 02

Numbers are not the point. The decisions you make because of them are the point. Our reports, calls and plans are designed for the meeting that happens after we send them, not as proof we did the work, but as fuel for the work you do next.

How we work with you 03

As a partner, never as a vendor. We learn your business: what you sell, how you sell it, what keeps you up at night and we stay close to it. Fixed fees, named contacts, calls returned the same day. The relationship is the deliverable. The compliance is the table stakes.

What guides the firm

Three values that decide every call we make.

01 · Clarity

Plain language, always.

If a report needs a glossary, it has failed. We rewrite, simplify and shorten until the next step is obvious — even at the cost of nuance.

02 · Closeness

A partner who knows your name.

A named lead and a named deputy for every client. No call-centre. No “someone will get back to you”. You speak to people who already know your business.

03 · Confidence

Decisions, not just records.

Compliance is the floor, not the ceiling. We are paid to make you more confident on Monday morning than you were on Friday night.

Meet the team

The people who keep the conversation human.

Behind the 48-hour response promise is a team that combines technical accounting, payroll, administration and client support with practical problem-solving. These are the people turning messy records, HMRC issues and day-to-day questions into calm, clear next steps.

Orsi Nagy

CEO & Operations Manager

I joined No1 Accountants in early 2022 as a Business Development Manager, and since then, I’ve grown into the CEO role by getting deeply involved in every part of the business. Today, I wear many hats from overseeing team support and internal systems to working closely with clients on some of their toughest challenges.

What I enjoy most is finding solutions to problems others see as impossible, such as closing a company that had been stuck for years or helping clients navigate complex HMRC penalty appeals. These situations demand persistence, attention to detail, and creative thinking, and nothing feels better than turning uncertainty into real results for our clients.

At my core, I deeply value personal communication. In a world full of automation and bots, I want every client to feel heard and supported. That’s why we make it a priority to respond meaningfully within 48 hours and keep the conversation human.

I’m proud to lead a team that combines operational excellence with heart — making work easier internally so we can be faster and more reliable for the people who count on us. Every day brings a new challenge, and I love that drive to keep learning, solving, and helping.

Tunde Slezak

Sole Trader & Limited Company Accounting

My name is Tünde Slezák, and I have been part of the No1 team since December 2024. I primarily work with sole traders, but I also manage the full financial administration of several limited companies.

The most rewarding part of my job is turning what initially appears to be a chaotic collection of data into a clear, organised set of accounts. That is where I feel I can create real value for clients.

I am particularly motivated by opportunities to optimise tax liabilities and help clients achieve genuine savings. For me, it is important that bookkeeping is not simply completed, but that clients also understand their numbers and gain confidence in their financial position.

One of the most common challenges I encounter, especially with sole traders, is the lack of separation between personal and business finances. While this can make the bookkeeping process more complex at first, my experience shows that with the right systems and clear communication, it can quickly become manageable and transparent. In these situations, I usually recommend using a separate business bank account, as it significantly simplifies financial planning in the long term.

What motivates me most is seeing clients gain a better understanding of how their business operates, become more conscious of their spending, and feel prepared for upcoming tax obligations. A common issue is the lack of forward planning and setting aside funds for tax payments, but through regular communication and collaboration, we can effectively address this and help clients stay in control.

Forward thinking

At No1, we place great importance on forward thinking and planning. We do not simply work retrospectively; we maintain ongoing communication with our clients and discuss matters throughout the year to help them avoid unexpected surprises and make informed financial decisions.

Gyongyi Varfoldi

Accounting Technician

I’m an Accounting Technician at No 1 Accountants, where I’ve been working since 2025. I work with small and medium-sized businesses across their full accounting cycle, handling day-to-day bookkeeping, liaising with clients regularly, and making sure everything is in place to close VAT returns and accounts accurately and on time.

A big part of my role is also helping new clients get set up for success. I take time to understand how their business works, bring everything into a clean and reliable system, and ensure a smooth transition so we can build from a strong starting point.

I enjoy the more “forensic” side of accounting — reviewing past records, spotting where things have gone wrong and putting better processes in place to prevent issues from repeating. It’s about creating clarity and giving clients confidence in their numbers.

For example, I recently worked with a client whose accounts didn’t match their Xero records. By working closely together, we were able to bring everything back into sync and make full use of the system, giving them much better visibility and control. Seeing that clarity come back, and the client’s appreciation is what keeps me motivated.

On the personal side, I’m a mum of two boys living in the Surrey Hills, where life is a lively mix of school runs, countryside walks and controlled chaos. Our home is shared with two cats, four chickens and an uncounted number of fish — they refuse to cooperate with inventory checks — plus a very patient husband. When I’m not untangling accounts or feeding the animal kingdom, you’ll usually find me gardening, decorating the house or heading out for long walks in the countryside pretending I’m on a wellness retreat while actually just trying to get everyone tired enough to sleep well.

Agnes Nagy

Payroll Manager & Office Administrator

I joined the No1 Accountants team in 2023. I started as a part-time employee and have been working full-time since January 2026. My responsibilities include general and financial administration as well as payroll management.

My work is multifaceted and varied. Before anything becomes routine, a new challenge arises that requires a solution. This continuous learning process allows me to expand and deepen my practical knowledge, which I find highly rewarding.

Our team is very supportive; I know I can rely on my colleagues, and they can rely on me as well.

Payroll and related matters make up the largest part of my role. I do my best to stay up to date with the latest regulations and continuously improve my understanding of how payroll impacts accounting and financial records.

One of the biggest challenges in my work is obtaining timely information from our clients and partners. Sometimes I only learn about changes affecting a given month after the fact, which can make the process more time-consuming. However, we always find a way to resolve any issues and ensure everything is handled correctly.

I particularly enjoy tasks that require structured thinking and help me gain a deeper understanding of the connections between different processes and systems.

“The most common thing I hear from new clients in their first month with us isn’t ‘thank you for the report’. It’s ‘I didn’t realise it could be like this’. That sentence is what the firm exists for.”
